The term Global Developmental Delay simply means that a young child has significant delays in meeting milestones in two or more areas of development.
Global Developmental Delay is not a diagnosis, it is a place holder that allows the child and family to access support services.

Your child has the same core needs as all children, so it is important that these are not neglected. Efforts to address your child’s additional needs should not become the total focus of their lives or of the family’s life.
