Strategies to improve parenting wellbeing – Introduction

    2. Participate in enjoyable family activities
    3. Adopt self-care practices
    4. Encourage positive behaviour in your child
    5. Access therapeutic programs

Introduction to the module

It can be upsetting to hear that when a child has a delay, their parents and carers are more likely to experience higher parental stress and poorer wellbeing. The good news is that parents have participated in research studies to tell us what improves their parenting wellbeing. These research studies suggest five main helpful strategies:

In this module, each of the five strategies will be explored. You can take your time and move through each of the five strategies at your own pace, focusing on one at a time. To help make a change in your life, you need to do more than simply read information. You need to think about your current situation and what you might like to change. You need to set some goals and take actions to achieve that goal. You also need to monitor your progress.

The module is designed to take you through this cycle. You can complete the cycle as many times as needed:
